Really disappointed right now. I've been coming to Old Orchard Beach with my daughters for 15 years and Surf 6 has always been a favorite. Gray atmosphere and pretty good food. I'm guessing there's new ownership. The menu is skinnyed down and the food is, frankly, awful. Everything we had was clearly frozen and dumped into a fryer. Limp clam strips, lame haddock and canned clam chowder. I'm giving two stars only because our waitress was a doll and the band on the deck was good. Sadly, we're gonna have to find a new beach bar.

My cousin and her fiancé got food poisoning. Enough said.

The "sea scallops" were, at best, bay scallops, and likely were whitefish. Very questionable at the least. This place seems more bar than restaraunt. They served my beer in a plastic cup.

The food is awful. Great service tho.

Came just for appetizers and drinks at about 2pm. Immediately were sat on the deck overlooking the ocean, which was nice. We had calamari and a New England clam chowder. The calamari was small and pricey, but good. The chowder was huge, a little pricey, but very good. It could have been hotter, but the flavor made up for it. Our server was very nice and attentive. Drinks were ice cold! Liked it just fine for a drink/snack spot.

Ended up going here only for drinks since all other Yelp reviews trashed their food. We ended up getting 4 drinks which totaled $60. Overpriced drinks and awful slow service. Ended up asking why their margaritas were $15/each when their menu clearly states $9/each. Ended up paying to avoid further confrontation - will not return.

Overpriced and food was terrible! Waitress did not serve everyone at the table at the same. Service was also non-existent. Had the steamed lobster dinner: was expecting the Maine staple to include corn, baked potato, etc... Instead, we received a dried out lobster, cole slaw and some soggy fries. Save your money and go to a lobster pound instead!!!

Better review this year. Excellent scollops and coleslaw. Great view. Come for cocktails!

I went to several restaurants to find one that was clean and reasonably priced which this was both. The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the lobster roll and a mixed green salad. I was pleased with the lobster roll but disappointed in the "mixed" green salad as it consisted of only iceberg lettuce which is inferior to dark greens in my opinion.

Spent our 1st anniversary, here! Food was just fine, and the view was GREAT! Outdoor, at night, on the ocean! Love Old Orchard Beach! Come August, we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary!

The calamari was greasy and it was 12$ for a small plate and the fried claims were not very good and you have to pay 5 dollars to park

The food is great and the service is great. The employees are very nice and the service is fast. But can get busy

Two weekends ago me, my GF and Brother headed North for the weekend.. It was a very busy weekend, as most are in Old Orchard. After doing some bar hopping we came across Surf 6.. We expected there to be a significant wait, there was not. The hostess informed us there was a wait out on the patio but inside they could seat us.. She was very nice, sat us quickly and our waitress, Tasha, was right over. She was extremely nice, very nice on the eyes as well, extremely informative on the menu, the area, really personable all the way around. My Brother and I ordered the loster cakes, wow, these were off the charts delicious. Cooked to perfection, plenty of Lobster, almost a melt in your mouth ability, absolutely perfect. I ordered the fried clams, and these were cooked to a perfect golden brown, very tender, delicious, just wish there had been more of them. My Brother ordered the swordfish steak and he devoured his food.. I tried a bite as well, it was fantastic, made me second guess myself on the clams.. My GF had a burger, well done, it was cooked nicely, juicy and she really enjoyed. Tasha, was VERY efficient on a VERY busy night, she was quite impressive and I think Surf 6 may want to think about a raise for this young lady.. I am somewhat astounded at the rating for "frozen" food.. Considering you can throw a rock and hit the ocean, not to mention the fact I know a bit about seafood, I did not find anything frozen at all and it would most certainly call them out on it if I did.. Really was a very enjoyable experience. And, you can't beat the view of the Ocean. The only reason this did not get a 5 star rating, this really is a 4.5 rating, is the portion size was a little small for the price. And, the noise level in the dining area is quite loud. The main bar is right there as you dine, it can make it difficult at times to hear what other people in your party are saying.. Overall, HIGHLY recommend.. SERVICE ***** FOOD **** LOCATION **** ATMOSPHERE **** DECOR **** OVERALL **** 1/2

Surf 6 was OK, but I was not a tremendous fan. Went there once for dinner and got a table on the outdoor patio, which was nice enough. I ordered a large lobster which was unusually tough, both inside and out. They were super-busy and as a result service became atrocious, it took forever for us to get our check, and then to pay it. We went again for lunch another day, and had a slightly better experience. That time we stuck mostly to the fried clam & fish dishes, which were good but we could have done just as well, at lower prices, at one of the carry-out places by the Pier. One of our group was sick of seafood and ordered a burger instead, that ended up being the biggest surprise of our meal, and probably the best dish that I tried there. Surf 6 seemed like a fairly family-friendly place during daylight hours, but they do have bouncers at the door so I think the place changes character quite a bit after nightfall.

Everything we ordered was in no way "fresh seafood". You can tell it was all frozen food tossed in a fryer. It was gross. The tank with the lobsters had the same size lobsters you get at my local grocery store in the middle of Massachusetts, for a quarter of the price. I assumed a restaurant, claiming to have the freshness seafood food, right on the beach in Maine, would have better seafood then a grocery store in Worcester, MA. I was very disappointed to have this as my first stop on our vacation. The building and decorating was fun and the back deck over looking the beach and.ocean was very nice, but the bathrooms where out dated and thinks.like the handle to the sink or the lock on the stall where broken. I get the weather is not so nice to keep thing pristine, but a little efforts in keeping up with things would go a long way. I mean with the prices they charge for a clam strip dinner or a appetizer of lobster cakes, you think there would be enough money to fix up the building, because they sure as he'll are not using the money to buy the freshness seafood. Not interested in going back. Oh and the service is absent. She took our order, we waited for ever for our food, and then did not see her until way after we where done eating.and.She gave us the check. She never came back, we left the money and left. And their signature Surf 6 cocktail, is nothing more then a Malibu bay breeze, that cost $10. Not worth the money.

Great food, horrible service. If Kelly's your waitress, either ask for a different one or leave immediately. We easily waited 20 minutes for our check, during which time she walked past us multiple times. Two tables she served came much later than us yet left before us. Definitely would not return to have her again. She absolutely did not deserve a tip, which is a lot coming from me considering I'm a waitress and always tip well.

Believe me, this may have been the worst meal I have ever been served at a restaurant. Went here with friends and all of the entrees we ordered were absolutely awful!!! The prime rib was way overcooked and sent back. The scallops tasted like eating cardboard with absolutely no flavor at all and the baked haddock was just as bad! The only positive thing I can say is, 25% was taken off the bill because everyone was so dissatisfied with their meals. Never again!

Solid destination for reliably good food, great atmosphere, great view and excellent staff/service. Of the numerous restaurants near the pier, this is our favorite. Reasonably priced selection - from lobster rolls to burgers, we have never been disappointed. We like their lobster rolls better than the nearby Myst restaurant, which uses a large hoagie roll - making it too bready. Surf 6 uses a New England hotdog roll, which let's u enjoy the lobster more IMO. Great outdoor seating, right on the beach.

Will not go back... I ordered their broiled haddock - it was dried out and seemed old. Wife ordered scallops - they were sandy, small, and probably the worst ones either of us had this year. The kid's meals we so-so, but you'd hope they could cook a hot dog and spaghetti. Lastly, for the amount of money we paid, I just expected so much more... I wouldn't advise anyone to go here...

  • Phil C.

If you like frozen fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, no taste to the scallops, and cold chowdah, this is the place for you. Swordfish was the only decent thing served to us tonight. Even the Rum Runner tasted like dirty feet. Manager couldn't be found when asked for. They didnt even take the chowdah off of the bill even though we returned it to asked for it to be warmed and they never brought it back. Never, ever returning here...

You can have haddock any where or you can have the best damn Haddock you've ever had in your entire life. My girlfriend and I took the baby up to some warm beach weather and wanted to get away. We came hungry and knew that OOB had little to no good food to offer... or does it? Listen, I don't know if this place is open year round, however... If i could drive there every day, I would. My father who is an average cook makes the meanest Haddock ever and this place topped it. This seafood/dive bar was better than I expected. The drinks we had ordered were great. Take down all the ridiculous advertising you have up for your vendors or make sure they're giving you free beer all year long, it looks tacky. If you have good food, you don't need to put up anything for them unless they pay you.

I have been coming to surf 6 for many years - it is your average burger and seafood place on OOB. The place has a great location with a stunning view of the beach / ocean. I have been to my uncle's 50th here and they did a great job with food and service. The food is good overall - nothing mind blowing, but exactly what you would expect to find in an oceanfront bar/grill. I love the burgers and the haddock here - but would pass on the prime rib. If you have your expectations set right you will have a great time and meal here.

Horrible experience and an even more horrible waitress, unfortunately I cannot remember her name. She was extremely rude to me because I have a serious food allergy. I'm only giving one star because I have to to post this.

Average seafood experience on the waterfront patio table. I thoughr it was overpriced, esp for 11.00 lobster soup app. Dinners ok. Go else for higher qualiyy food at better prices. Ok for casual dinner, don't expect much.

Best Restaurant in OOB center. Great for family or a couple. Very accommodating for handicap. Extremely pleasant atmosphere. Excellent food and stunning view.

Review is for fried clams and beer! We hung out at OOB for a while. Friend bought the fried clams, which were delicious but tourist-priced. We then decided to grab a few beers here - I tried a blueberry one for the sake of trying a blueberry one. Sat outside on the patio area. If you're adverse to the smell of bleach, wait a minute after the girl finishes cleaning the tables. There's also a live band in the weekend afternoon.

We went there for lunch; it features casual dining with a view of the ocean, and a limited but good menu. The clam chowder was very thick and delicious, possibly one of the best clam chowders I have eaten at any restaurant! The haddock sandwich was okay; the haddock filet was great but the bun they serve it with is a fast food-style bun. Also they serve it with ken's tartar sauce (in a single serving size packet) not tartar sauce made in house so I was not impressed - compared to the delectable clam chowder it was a let-down. I also tried the fried calimari - it was good but the marinara sauce they serve it with needs to be a lot thicker and a lot more spicy. Staff was friendly. They had the best food out of all the places we tried in the area. I'm tempted to rate it higher based on the staff and the clam chowder; the chowder is good enough to make you disregard the rest. If I ever go back to Old Orchard Beach, I'll definitely stop here for clam chowder! I have since been back, for their clam chowder and it was every bit as good as the first time!

Great beachside location. Food and service was good... Drinks were pricey. My friend had the lobster pasta and that looked yummy. I had the steamed lobster and it was also good.

Unimpressed. I spent a few hours at OOB with 4 other people and read reviews prior to choosing a lunch spot. I am a big fan of 'on the beach' dining so I figured this was the place to go. The food was awful. We ordered all the lunch options which were fried shrimp, clams, scallops, and haddock. They all came with coleslaw which wasn't too bad and French fries. We also ordered the calamari appetizer. Aside from the haddock and clams, everything seemed to be frozen not fresh. They did have lobster tanks inside which lead me to believe everything would be nice and fresh. Portions were small and nothing had flavor except for the salt and pepper packets. The scallops and shrimp were the size of dimes. None of us ordered drinks but they looked tasty and were upwards of $10, not too unusual for tourist spots. We ordered iced tea but they were small and offered no free refills, so we switched to water after the first glass. There was also a band playing, odd variety of music and way too loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. Service was decent and the atmosphere is definately what you pay for. So for next time ill order a lobster roll or better yet..just grab food on the pier and sit on the beach.

Between the Mr. Toad's Wild ride economy and the goram condo developers you never know which spots will be open, renamed or shuttered from one summer to the next. Alas, a few years back we lost our lobster roll spot at OOB and had to choose a new venue. The Surf 6 has both indoor and outdoor seating, depending on how much sun you can handle. We usually sit outside to hear the band and watch the tide, I find the most shaded spot since I have a complexion nearly paler than milk. The lobster roll here torpedoes the one at the Pier. Unlike that hunk of junk that looks like the meat was minced, at Surf 6 the butter grilled roll is chock full of whole lobster pieces with just enough seasoning and mayo to hold it together. I liked the fried scallop plate better than the clam strips but overall the fried items were crisp and fresh. We roll with a party of eight or more and the staff handles us well. The Corona bottles don't stay empty for long and nary a recession lime to be seen.

Ok food. Overpriced. Lobster was overcooked and dry. Service was good. Locals don't go here so that's a red flag.

HORRIBLE. the band playing was so bad even the waitress was making comments about them. I paid 12$ for chicken fingers and frech fries that I would have been disappointed if I had made them myself from the freezer! $2 for a small glass of soda (NO REFILLS) this place's only saving grace was our wonderful server

Great food, ever more amazing location. Right on the beach. A little more on the pricey side but good food and fun when you sit out on the deck with friends and music. Good for tourist, I live here so its not special but its good food.

Great location and good food. Only a block from the pier, and right on the beach with outdoor seating on their beachfront deck. Our waitress was very friendly & quick, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the lobster linguine.

Service is friendly and fast. Ask for Alyssa. She is terrific. We had New York strip and Prime Rib dinners. Both were cooked perfect to our order. Cannot attest to seafood meals but lots of choices on the menu. Outside seating seems to be appealing to most diners but we prefer inside. Would go back again.

Really good, food. Margaritas need some work though. Great place right on the ocean. Open patio is wonderful and even better when the band plays.

Drove up to Old Orchard Beach because I heard it had a pier. Wifey and were not disappointed. Old orchard is a fun place to go to. It has a nice beach, plenty stores, plenty of places, to eat, arcade, and amusement park. You actually feel like a kid again. Wifey and I wanted lunch. so, we asked the parking lot attendant. She recommended 2 places to us. we chose Surf 6 because they had a large outdoor patio. the menu is nothing fancy. Surf 6 is good lunch time spot. I got the chicken sandwich and wifey got the cheeseburger. The chicken sandwich is really good. It feels like something you would eat off your grill. And you know how much I love chicken. the cheeseburger did the job too. Service was really fast. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. the server was nice as well. The price was right and the setting was right. If you want to eat outdoors and do some people watching go to Surf 6.
